"Mere hours before the winter formal dance while in Junior High School she sat down behind a sewing machine for the first time and with some fabric, sweat and the over-reaching naiveté that only comes with adolescence a dress and career were born." That might be a bit of an exaggeration, it wasn't my first time behind a sewing machine-more like the second or third, but I did start to make that dress the day of the dance and, you know what, I wore that dress to the dance that night! And it was the beginning of my future career in fashion design, tailoring and bespoke clothing.
Why would someone feel motivated to make her own dress the day of the dance? For the same reason I continue to make clothing for myself and others today, Because I could not find clothing I liked and that fit me well. Sound familiar? I have been sewing professional since 2000. In the fall of 2013 I made the decision to go full time with my sewing and in the fall of 2014 opened my brick and mortar shop.
